Myth #9: There is only one race, the human race.

The phrase “there is only one race: the human race”, can cause us to overlook and even dismisses the unique life experiences of black individuals.  While race is a social construct, it significantly influences our opportunities and relationships.  Denying this impact hinders genuine unity within the body of Christ.  In 1 Corinthians 12:26, Paul urges empathy, emphasizing the importance of understanding diverse perspectives.  Ignorance of the harm caused by phrases like “there is only one race” does not diminish the impact.  Let’s foster meaningful conversations that promote connection and empathy and deepen our understanding of racial realities instead of dismissing important discussions with oversimplified statements.
