Myth #9: There is only one race, the human race.

The phrase “we are all one race: the human race”, can be a microaggression that dismisses the unique life experiences of black individuals.  While race is a social construct, it significantly influences our opportunities and relationships.  Denying this impact hinders genuine unity within the body of Christ.  In 1st Corinthians 12:26, Paul urges empathy, emphasizing the importance of understanding diverse perspectives.  Ignorance of the harm caused by phrases like “there is only one race” does not excuse the impact.  Let’s foster meaningful conversations that promote connection and empathy and deepen our understanding of racial realities instead of dismissing important discussions with oversimplified statements.
